Heth Washington was temporarily under new leadership on 10-6-23, as 1st grade student Thadd Deatrick-or should we say Mr. Deatrick was principal for the day! Mr. Deatrick enjoyed helping to lead our morning meeting and the Pledge of Allegiance to start his day. He also chose the cover for the school yearbook and helped to read in our K-2nd grade classrooms. He even treated his 1st grade classmates to extra recess, "if they were good for their teacher!" Thanks for being a great leader at HWES, Thadd!

Heth Washington 6th graders culminated their egg drop projects on September 26 by having their devices dropped from 3, 8, and 40'! Students worked through the design process of trial, error, and eventual success. Students also detailed their process, methods, and materials in their engineering notebook and wrapped up the project with a written assignment detailing their scientific journey!

I would like to take a minute to thank everyone for a great 2023 HWES Fall Festival. This event would not have been a success without the leadership and hard work of our PTO Officers and members! I would like to thank the South Harrison School Board for their continued support and attending our event. Special thanks to all of the teachers and staff members who gave of their time to make our night a fun event for our families. Thank you to Ms. Joanna Barks for your awesome cooking and care of our kitchen. Thank you to all of the businesses and donors who supported the students of Heth Washington Elementary. (We will list those donors who wish to be identified in a future post, so we may support those who support our kids!) We greatly appreciate Mr. Paul Beckort with Beckort Auction for presenting our live auction. Thank you families, for your donations to our class baskets and bringing your students to Heth for a memorable night! Sincerely, Mr. Ferriell
